The operation employs a three-pronged approach to insecticide application. For broad, open areas, teams are using BTI, a long-range biological larvicide that targets mosquito larvae in standing water. This is complemented by vehicle-mounted LECO fogging machines, which patrol residential streets to dispense insecticide into yards, patios, and the immediate surroundings of homes. This method is crucial for targeting adult mosquitoes in their common outdoor resting places.
The third and most targeted element of the strategy involves teams with portable thermal foggers.
