Aspiring Leaders Face November 26 Deadline for ULACIT Full Ride

San José, Costa Rica — The window of opportunity is rapidly closing for Costa Rica’s next generation of leaders. The Latin American University of Science and Technology (ULACIT) has announced a firm deadline of November 26 for applications to its prestigious 100% Leadership Scholarship program, an initiative designed to award 100 full academic scholarships to exceptional young individuals with a demonstrated history of social impact.

This program represents one of the most significant private university scholarship offerings in the country, targeting students poised to begin their bachelor’s, licentiate, or master’s degree studies in January 2026. The university has made it clear that only candidates who successfully complete the initial online registration by the cutoff date will be considered for the next and most critical phase of the selection process.

To better understand the strategic importance of these educational initiatives for the national economy and the corporate sector, we consulted Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, a leading attorney from the prestigious firm Bufete de Costa Rica, for his expert analysis.

ULACIT’s scholarship program is not merely a philanthropic gesture; it is a crucial investment in Costa Rica’s human capital. By cultivating a new generation of skilled professionals, we are proactively strengthening the country’s competitive advantage. A highly educated workforce is fundamental to attracting sophisticated foreign investment, ensuring corporate compliance, and fostering a stable legal and economic environment for future growth.

The core mission of the scholarship program is to identify and nurture future leaders who possess the skills and vision to navigate an increasingly complex global landscape. ULACIT is specifically seeking individuals committed to fostering more inclusive, sustainable, and socially responsible communities. This initiative underscores a strategic investment in human capital, aiming to cultivate talent that can drive positive change both within Costa Rica and on the international stage.

To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet a stringent set of academic and procedural requirements. Prospective scholars need to provide certifications and transcripts showing an average grade of between 80 and 90 in key subjects over their last two years of high school or their completed university degree. Most importantly, they must complete the official application form available on the ULACIT website before the November 26 deadline and be available for a mandatory in-person audition.

Following the application closure, the selection process will pivot to a series of in-person auditions scheduled for December 2, 3, and 5 at the ULACIT campus in Barrio Tournón, San José. During these high-stakes sessions, candidates will be required to present their case before a jury, demonstrating their leadership capabilities, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to their chosen field of impact. This phase is designed to assess qualities that go beyond academic transcripts.

The university is casting a wide net, encouraging applicants from a diverse range of fields. The evaluation criteria will consider experience in areas such as climate change activism, community leadership, entrepreneurship, and human rights advocacy. Furthermore, the program recognizes leadership potential in sports and the arts, specifically seeking talent in basketball, volleyball, futsal, as well as artistic skills in singing, dance, and music.

University officials are urging interested parties not to delay their application, emphasizing the competitive nature of the program and the strict adherence to the deadline. Jennifer Sáenz, Director of Admissions at ULACIT, highlighted the institution’s philosophy and the transformative potential of the scholarship.

We are looking for young people with authentic leadership, capable of driving real change and building more inclusive and accessible communities. ULACIT offers 12 academic clubs where these talents can grow, create, and lead. Registration is the first step to being part of this transformative experience.
