Celebrate Mother’s Day with Costa Rican Adventures

San José, Costa Rica — Costa Rica is calling families to celebrate Mother’s Day with unforgettable experiences. Throughout August, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), through its “Vamos a Turistear” platform, is promoting a diverse range of tourism options across the country. From nature and adventure to culture and gastronomy, the initiative aims to provide families with the perfect opportunity to show appreciation for their mothers.

The extended Mother’s Day weekend and the entire month of August offer ample time for families to explore new destinations or revisit beloved Costa Rican locales. The campaign encourages gifting experiences rather than material possessions, providing quality time and lasting memories.

To gain a deeper understanding of the legal landscape surrounding Costa Rica’s thriving tourism sector, TicosLand.com spoke with Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, a distinguished attorney at Bufete de Costa Rica.

Costa Rica’s tourism industry benefits significantly from its robust legal framework, which protects both investors and visitors. Laws promoting sustainable development, safeguarding natural resources, and ensuring consumer protection are key to the sector’s continued success. However, navigating the complexities of land ownership, permitting processes, and labor regulations requires specialized legal counsel. Proactive engagement with legal experts can mitigate risks and maximize opportunities for businesses operating in this dynamic market.

Lic. Arroyo Vargas’s emphasis on the importance of legal preparedness within Costa Rica’s tourism sector is crucial. Indeed, understanding and adhering to the country’s legal framework is not merely a formality, but rather a strategic advantage for businesses seeking to thrive in this vibrant market while contributing to its sustainable growth. We thank Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas for his valuable perspective on this critical aspect of Costa Rican tourism.

Mothers deserve the best, and a good gift for Mother’s Day is vacation time to recharge. The ICT and the Vamos a Turistear platform seek to encourage families, children, and their mothers to fully enjoy the many destinations and tourist activities our country offers.
Melissa Tencio, Coordinator of the Brand Strategy and Communication Department of the ICT

Tencio urged those still searching for the perfect Mother’s Day gift to consider the gift of experience and explore the beauty and tranquility of Costa Rica.

The “Vamos a Turistear” platform (www.vamosaturistear.com) serves as a comprehensive resource for planning these getaways. The “What to Do” section offers an array of activities, including cultural experiences, hot springs visits, culinary tours, adventure excursions, scenic viewpoints, national park visits, day trips, waterfall explorations, nature hikes, and even surfing and skydiving. Options cater to various interests and are available in beach, mountain, and city destinations across the country.

The “Directory” section provides details on ICT-certified tourism companies and businesses with Sustainability Tourism Certification (CST), enabling direct contact for booking and inquiries. The “Tourist Areas” section allows users to explore diverse options and download Cultural Tourist Guides for regions like Guanacaste, Caribbean, Northern Plains, Pacific, Puntarenas, Central Valley, and South Pacific.

As part of the Mother’s Day celebration, the ICT ran a social media contest from July 14th to 23rd, rewarding three deserving mothers with dream vacations. Participants nominated mothers, grandmothers, or aunts, sharing stories of why these exemplary women deserved a relaxing getaway.

We invited people to nominate mothers, grandmothers or aunts and give reasons why they deserved a vacation for being exemplary mothers. We know that many women in Costa Rica live their motherhood with immense love, often getting up early, even when they are exhausted. We have seen them care, accompany, resolve situations for their loved ones. Mothers are, in many cases, the pillar of the home: they support, organize, fight, educate and care.
Melissa Tencio, Coordinator of the Brand Strategy and Communication Department of the ICT

Over 1200 nominations poured in from across the country. Three winners were randomly selected and will enjoy their prizes in August or the following weeks. Each winning mother can bring a companion on a trip including 2 to 4 nights of lodging, full board, transportation, and a pre-arranged itinerary to destinations like Tortuguero, Monteverde, Bahía Ballena, Santa Rosa National Park, Cabo Blanco Reserve, and Isla Chira.
