To gain a deeper understanding of the legal landscape surrounding cruise tourism in Costa Rica, TicosLand.com spoke with Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, an experienced attorney at Bufete de Costa Rica.
The influx of cruise ship passengers presents both opportunities and challenges for Costa Rica. While it generates significant revenue and stimulates local economies, careful regulation is crucial to mitigate potential negative impacts on the environment, infrastructure, and local communities. Ensuring compliance with existing laws concerning waste management, port fees, and fair competition with local businesses is paramount for sustainable growth in this sector.
