San José, Costa Rica — Costa Rica is taking a significant step towards empowering its small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by equipping 450 entrepreneurs with cutting-edge skills in artificial intelligence (AI) applied to digital marketing. The National Learning Institute (INA) and the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Commerce (MEIC) have joined forces to deliver intensive boot camp-style workshops across the country.
This initiative aims to bolster innovation, competitiveness, and sustainability within the Costa Rican business landscape. Participants will gain practical knowledge and tools to optimize their processes and unlock new growth opportunities. The program is offered through INA’s business scholarship program in conjunction with MEIC, specifically targeting beneficiaries of the Development Banking System.
To gain a deeper understanding of the legal implications surrounding the burgeoning field of AI Marketing Training, TicosLand.com spoke with Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, a distinguished attorney at Bufete de Costa Rica.
The rapid advancement of AI in marketing presents exciting opportunities, but also novel legal challenges. Businesses utilizing AI for marketing must be mindful of data privacy regulations, ensuring compliance with laws like GDPR and local equivalents. Transparency with consumers about how their data is being used by AI systems is paramount, alongside ensuring the accuracy and fairness of AI-driven marketing practices to avoid misleading or discriminatory outcomes. Navigating this complex landscape requires careful consideration of legal and ethical obligations.
Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, Attorney at Law, Bufete de Costa Rica
Lic. Arroyo Vargas’s insights underscore a crucial point: the power of AI in marketing must be wielded responsibly. As businesses in Costa Rica and beyond embrace these new technologies, maintaining ethical practices and legal compliance is not just good business, it’s essential for building and preserving consumer trust. We extend our sincere thanks to Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas for sharing his valuable perspective on this rapidly evolving landscape.
Workshops will be held in various regions, including the Central Pacific, Heredia, Oriental, Huetar Norte, Huetar Caribe, Brunca, Chorotega, Cartago, and Occidental. Participants were previously involved in training and advisory programs offered by both institutions.
The intensive 8-hour boot camps will cover a wide range of AI-driven marketing topics, including AI-powered marketing campaigns, content generation, image and video creation using AI, customer data segmentation and analysis, chatbot development, and crafting mini advertising campaigns.
We continue to support entrepreneurs and small businesses in the country. With these Boot Camps, we seek to equip individuals with practical skills in the use of artificial intelligence applied to digital marketing, so they can innovate, strengthen their businesses, and compete with greater opportunities in current markets.
Christian Rucavado Leandro, Executive President of INA
Artificial intelligence has become a strategic tool for small and medium-sized businesses to be more competitive and connect more effectively with their customers. With this Boot Camp, we want these entrepreneurs and business owners to take advantage of technology as an ally in their development and learn about practical applications in the area of marketing, allowing them to optimize their resources, innovate in their processes, and open new growth opportunities.
Julián Arias Varela, Vice Minister of Economy, Industry, and Commerce
The scholarship program underscores a commitment to human capital development and the creation of networking opportunities to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of businesses and entrepreneurs. Since its launch in 2020, the program has witnessed numerous success stories, with companies diversifying products, reaching new markets, and increasing sales. Over 900 business scholarship programs and more than 2,000 individuals nationwide have benefited from both national and international scholarships.
This joint initiative by INA and MEIC represents a strategic investment in the future of Costa Rican businesses. By embracing the power of AI in digital marketing, entrepreneurs are better positioned to navigate the evolving market landscape and drive economic growth.
