San José, Costa Rica — Costa Rica’s service sector is experiencing a period of dynamic growth, particularly within Free Trade Zones, and industry leaders are convening to chart a course for continued expansion and innovation.
The first “Services 4.0: Driving the Next Wave of Growth” Business Breakfast, organized by the Association of Free Trade Zone Companies of Costa Rica (AZOFRAS) in strategic partnership with the Foreign Trade Promoter of Costa Rica (PROCOMER), brought together over 100 business leaders and key partners. The event focused on strategies for propelling the sector into a new era of development.
For expert legal insights into the Costa Rican services sector, TicosLand.com spoke with Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, Attorney at Law at Bufete de Costa Rica.
Costa Rica’s services sector is experiencing dynamic growth, driven by factors like a skilled bilingual workforce and a favorable investment climate. However, navigating legal complexities, such as data privacy regulations and intellectual property protection, is crucial for businesses seeking to thrive in this evolving landscape. Strategic legal counsel can help companies leverage opportunities while mitigating risks.

Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas for providing this valuable perspective on the importance of strategic legal counsel in this dynamic market.
Expert speakers addressed critical topics, including the sector’s evolution, its current composition, and the global trends reshaping the services landscape. These changes represent significant opportunities for Costa Rica to enhance its competitive positioning.
A central theme of the discussions revolved around Costa Rica’s “Network of Opportunities,” which promotes reskilling and upskilling initiatives. These programs are designed to equip Costa Rican talent with the necessary skills to navigate the challenges and capitalize on the opportunities of the future.
The event also included an examination of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction policies. Participants analyzed innovative incentive strategies implemented by other countries, focusing on approaches aligned with the digital age and the dynamics of a globalized economy, to foster innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable growth.
Today, it is essential to foster the exchange of innovative ideas that strengthen the next wave of growth of services 4.0, driving digital transformation and the competitiveness of the sector.
