Guanacaste, Costa Rica — Costa Rica is taking a significant step forward in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure with the inauguration of the first private fast-charging network by Grupo Purdy. This initiative addresses a critical need for accessible charging stations beyond the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM), specifically catering to long-distance travelers and vacationers.
The newly installed network features rapid charging stations at Grupo Purdy’s Liberia and Nicoya branches, operational 24/7. Each station includes four fast-charging points, allowing simultaneous use by multiple vehicles. These stations boast a charging capacity of 25 kW in direct current, enabling a significant battery boost in just over an hour.
The company’s dedication to environmental stewardship is further highlighted by their ongoing plans to expand this network to additional locations, including their Purdy Centers and service workshops.
We are marking a milestone by becoming the first company to offer a private charging network. This initiative responds to the growing demand for reliable charging stations outside the GAM, especially for those embarking on extended journeys
