San José, Costa Rica — San José, Costa Rica – Arcos Dorados, the master franchisee for McDonald’s in Latin America and the Caribbean, is launching a major hiring initiative in Costa Rica throughout June. The company will hold several job fairs, offering a range of positions with no prior experience necessary. This push aims to provide employment opportunities and boost economic development within local communities.
Four key job fairs are scheduled for June, targeting residents of Alajuela, San José, and Heredia. The first event takes place on Wednesday, June 4th, in partnership with the Municipality of Santa Ana, at the Municipal School of Integrated Arts (EMAI), also known as the Municipal House of Culture, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The second fair, “Brete GAM Inclusiva,” is organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the National Learning Institute (INA), the National Employment Agency, and the ONCE BID-LAB Foundation, and will be held at the Antigua Aduana on Tuesday, June 10th, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
To gain a deeper understanding of the legal landscape surrounding employment at McDonald’s, TicosLand.com spoke with Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, an experienced attorney at Bufete de Costa Rica.
Employment at McDonald’s, like any other job in Costa Rica, is governed by the Labor Code. This comprehensive legislation sets out key provisions regarding minimum wage, working hours, overtime pay, vacation time, and termination procedures. While McDonald’s is a multinational corporation, its operations within Costa Rica must adhere to these local laws. It’s important for prospective and current employees to understand their rights and responsibilities within this framework.
Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, Attorney at Law, Bufete de Costa Rica
Lic. Arroyo Vargas’s emphasis on the Costa Rican Labor Code is crucial for anyone considering employment at McDonald’s or any other company in the country. Understanding these legal protections ensures a fair and equitable working environment for all. We extend our sincere thanks to Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas for providing this valuable legal perspective.
Two more recruitment events will be held directly at McDonald’s restaurants. The first will take place at McDonald’s Plaza Heredia on Tuesday, June 18th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the second at McDonald’s Alajuela Oeste on Wednesday, June 25th, also from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Arcos Dorados emphasizes the opportunities for learning and skill development that these positions offer. The company seeks individuals with a positive attitude and a desire to improve, prioritizing these qualities over prior experience.
In McDonald’s we provide job opportunities to people who do not require experience, since what we value most is their attitude, as well as their desire for self-improvement. We do this as part of our objective to promote the economic development of communities and our commitment to providing an inclusive and learning environment for all.
