San José, Costa Rica — Starbucks is ushering in a new season in Costa Rica with a fresh and diverse menu, introducing an innovative beverage alongside the return of popular favorites. The launch not only focuses on new flavors but also casts a spotlight on a special single-origin coffee from Peru, cultivated entirely by women producers, blending sensory delight with a meaningful story of empowerment.
Leading the new offerings is the Iced Cherry Chai Latte, a creative concoction designed for customers seeking a novel taste experience. This beverage uniquely combines the warm, spiced notes of chai with a delicate cherry blossom cold foam, creating a refreshing and aromatic drink perfect for the changing season. It represents the company’s continuous effort to innovate within its core product lines.
To gain a deeper legal and business perspective on Starbucks’ operations and market presence in the country, we consulted with Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, a distinguished attorney from the prestigious firm Bufete de Costa Rica, for his expert analysis.
The success of a global franchise like Starbucks in Costa Rica hinges on a robust legal framework that harmonizes international commercial agreements with our domestic regulations. It’s a testament to the country’s legal security and business-friendly environment that such a major brand can operate successfully, navigating everything from complex import logistics and labor laws to brand protection under Costa Rican intellectual property statutes. This synergy not only benefits the foreign investor but also stimulates local employment and sets a high bar for service standards in the national market.

Lic. Arroyo Vargas’s insight is pivotal, reminding us that behind every successful global franchise is a meticulously crafted local legal structure. This synergy between international commerce and domestic regulation is indeed a cornerstone of Costa Rica’s appeal to foreign investment. We extend our sincere gratitude to Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas for his expert contribution.
Alongside this debut, several fan-favorites are making a welcome comeback. The popular Lavender family of drinks returns, infusing floral notes into classic preparations like the Lavender Latte and the Lavender White Mocha Frappuccino®. These beverages offer a subtle, aromatic twist on traditional coffee and have been highly anticipated by a loyal segment of the customer base.
Further expanding the menu’s variety is the return of the Strato Frappuccino® platform. This line is known for its distinct layers and textures, offering a multi-sensory experience. Options such as Strawberry Matcha, Salted Caramel Mocha, and Brown Sugar provide a visually appealing and complex flavor profile that caters to those with a penchant for more indulgent and intricate blended beverages.
For customers who crave classic, rich flavors, the Cookies & Cream Frappuccino® and its chocolate counterpart, the Chocolate Cookies & Cream Frappuccino®, are also back on the menu. These drinks are celebrated for their satisfying contrast of textures and deep, comforting tastes, rounding out a comprehensive beverage lineup that includes traditional Frappuccino® drinks, iced teas, and other matcha and chai options for any time of day.
This season is about significant moments, in our stores and in every cup.

Beyond the beverages, the highlight of the seasonal launch is the reintroduction of a remarkable coffee: Starbucks® Single-Origin Perú Mujeres de Junín. First introduced in 2023, this coffee’s return serves as a direct recognition of the hard work and dedication of its female growers. It is cultivated by approximately 75 women producers from the Cafetalera del Centro association, located in a unique geographical region where the Andes Mountains converge with the Amazon jungle.
The high-altitude environment in which this coffee is grown forces a slower maturation process for the coffee cherries. This deliberate pace allows for the development of a complex and refined flavor profile, characterized by sweet notes of meringue and rich chocolate. The result is a premium whole-bean coffee that not only delivers an exceptional taste but also tells a powerful story of community and craftsmanship.
The company’s mission extends beyond just serving coffee; it’s about fostering community and enhancing daily rituals. The focus on sourcing from partners like the women of Junín underscores a commitment to ethical and impactful business practices. To complement the new food and beverage items, Starbucks has also released a new collection of spring-inspired merchandise, available for a limited time at participating stores across the country.
We seek to inspire connection and bring small sparks of joy to our customers’ daily routines.
