San José, Costa Rica — Costa Rica is expanding its international sporting profile as a five-athlete national delegation prepares to compete in the 2026 World Racquetball Championship. The highly anticipated global event will take place from October 16 to October 24 in Temuco, Chile, bringing together the world’s premier racquetball nations in a intense showcase of elite athleticism and strategic execution.
Heading the Costa Rican squad are top-ranked players Gabriel García and Larissa Faeth, who will anchor the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. Both athletes carry high expectations as they step onto the courts to lead a dynamic mix of veteran experience and promising talent representing the Central American nation on the global stage.

The complete roster highlights a strategically structured team designed to challenge opponents across multiple competitive formats. Alongside García and Faeth, the team includes Álvaro Guillén serving as the second seed in men’s singles, Jimena Gómez competing in women’s singles, and Felipe Camacho focusing his competitive efforts on key double events.
Tactical pairings have been meticulously assigned across the doubles divisions to maximize potential medal opportunities. In men’s doubles, Felipe Camacho will partner with Gabriel García, while Larissa Faeth and Jimena Gómez join forces for women’s doubles. Meanwhile, Faeth will also team up with Álvaro Guillén to represent Costa Rica in the mixed doubles bracket.
Despite the team’s strong composition, the delegation faces a major strategic hurdle due to the absence of star player Andrés Acuña. Acuña remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from a severe injury sustained during the Costa Rica Open of Racquetball, depriving the squad of one of its most experienced international contenders.
It is always a matter of pride to represent Costa Rica, especially on such an important stage as a World Championship. I feel that this national team is capable of fighting for the top spots.
Gabriel García, Costa Rican Racquetball Athlete
The tournament presents a rigorous test for Costa Rica as the national squad prepares to battle established racquetball powerhouses. Competitors from the United States, Mexico, Canada, Bolivia, Colombia, Guatemala, and host nation Chile are set to generate a highly intense competitive environment across every bracket.
This is my second Senior World Championship, and you still feel that excitement of knowing you are going to play against the greats, the professionals, but also eager to go and demonstrate the work that I have been doing and that the country has been doing in recent years.
Larissa Faeth, Costa Rican Racquetball Athlete
The continued progression of Costa Rica’s racquetball program highlights the country’s growing investment in athletic development and high-performance training. As matches begin this Saturday in Temuco, the national team remains firmly focused on capitalizing on key matchups, executing disciplined game plans, and securing a coveted spot on the international podium.
