Running from April 10th to the 19th, this ambitious ten-day event is a strategic initiative by the Ministry of Culture and Youth designed to elevate the nation’s cultural profile on the international stage, fostering both artistic exchange and professional development within the sector.
The festival represents a significant investment in the country’s creative economy, featuring a curated selection of more than 20 theatrical productions. It brings together acclaimed theater companies from across the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking world, with participants hailing from Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay, among others.

This festival was born precisely in 2026 to showcase works of the highest quality; from over 700 proposals, we have 21 companies performing theater in the region. We will have a scouting component; programmers from various festivals are coming to see what we are doing in Costa Rican theater to promote it in those cultural circuits. And we will also have the training component, because we believe it is important for the sector to have tools to improve its competitiveness.
