The MIPYMES360° program, a collaborative effort between the local non-profit Aliarse and the Sistema de Banca para el Desarrollo (SBD), has officially launched its latest call for applications. This initiative aims to provide non-reimbursable seed capital, specialized technical training, and strategic mentoring to women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operating in the tourism industry.
The program is specifically designed to support economic development outside the central valley, targeting businesses located in Guanacaste, Limón, the Northern Zone, and the Pacific coastal regions. These areas, while rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage, often face unique economic challenges. By channeling resources directly to female business owners in these provinces, the program hopes to foster localized, sustainable growth and bridge the gender gap in entrepreneurial financing.

A wide range of tourism-related activities are eligible for the funding and support. Eligible enterprises include those dedicated to ecotourism, gastronomy, local lodgings and cabins, artisanal crafts, guided tours, and tourist transportation. By encompassing such a broad spectrum of services, MIPYMES360° aims to strengthen the entire local tourism supply chain, creating a more resilient regional economy that benefits entire communities.
Selected participants will receive much more than just financial assistance. Beyond the non-reimbursable seed capital, the program offers comprehensive training and specialized technical support. Entrepreneurs will learn to implement best business practices, obtain valuable industry certifications, and gain access to commercial promotion spaces. These opportunities include participation in trade fairs and inclusion in professional networking circles, which are crucial for scaling small businesses.
This call is part of the initiatives we develop alongside the Sistema de Banca para el Desarrollo to expand growth opportunities for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises led by women, while promoting economic development across different regions of the country.
Aliarse, Program Coordinators
To qualify for the program, applicants must meet several strict requirements. The business must be at least 50% owned or co-owned by a woman, and it must have been actively operating for a period of between six months and five years. Additionally, the business must be formally registered with the Costa Rican tax authority (Ministerio de Hacienda) under either the simplified or traditional tax regime.
The program also aims to ensure that resources are distributed to those who have not previously benefited from similar state aid. Therefore, applicants must not have received seed capital from the SBD or any of its operating agencies within the last four years. This measure ensures that the funding reaches new, deserving projects that have yet to receive significant institutional backing.
Interested female entrepreneurs have a limited window to submit their applications, with the deadline set for July 17, 2026. The application process has been streamlined to ensure accessibility, allowing candidates to inquire and submit forms through popular digital channels.
