The event showcased the nation’s top talent, with fierce competition and razor-thin victory margins defining a spectacular day of racing.
In the premier Open Masculino category, the day belonged to the Pedregal–7C–Economy team, which secured a dominant one-two finish. Luis Mejía ultimately claimed the top step of the podium, clocking in with a blistering time of 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 34 seconds. The victory, however, was anything but easy. His own teammate, Keiron Solís, shadowed him throughout the race, crossing the finish line just two seconds behind in a testament to the team’s competitive spirit and strategic prowess on the challenging terrain.

Rounding out the Open Masculino podium was Luis López of the Megamo ManzaTé La Selva team, who fought hard to secure a respectable third place amidst the display of force from the winning duo.
The Open Femenino competition was equally captivating, with Cristel Espinoza of the CBZ Asfaltos–Dekra–Secnet team delivering a commanding performance. Espinoza conquered the grueling course with a winning time of 3 hours, 15 minutes, and 22 seconds, establishing herself as the rider to beat this season. Her victory was part of a strong showing from her sponsor group, as Adriana Rojas of CBZ–Dekra clinched second place, showcasing their depth of talent. The formidable Milagro Mena from the Colono Bikestation kölbi team earned a hard-fought third place, ensuring the women’s podium represented a diverse field of elite competitors.
Emerging talent was on full display in the Sub-23 categories, where the Colono Bikestation Kölbi team demonstrated its commitment to developing the next generation of champions. The team executed a perfect clean sweep in the men’s division, with Fabricio Raabe taking first place, followed by teammates Adriano González and José Vargas in second and third, respectively. In the women’s Sub-23 race, Marisol García Quirós took the win, followed closely by her sister, Isabel García, in a remarkable family achievement, while Valentina Morera completed the podium in third.
The event also celebrated the depth and passion of the cycling community by featuring numerous other categories. The highly competitive Máster divisions saw victories from Rodolfo Villalobos and Adriana Fernández (Máster A), Alberto Sandoval and Alejandra González (Máster B), Federico Ramírez and Eunice Rojas (Máster C), Marcos Vinicio Mendoza and Cristine de Mezerville Ferreto (Máster D), and Esteban Oreamuno and Yessenia Villalta (Máster E).
Furthermore, the growing popularity of alternative disciplines was evident. In the Gravel Masculino category, Adrián Martínez of Bike Store Trek powered his way to victory. The E-Bike divisions crowned Billy Navarro (E-Bike 19–49), Adriana Soto (E-Bike Femenino), and Ronald Vargas (E-Bike 50+) as their respective champions, showcasing the integration of technology into competitive cycling.
With the dust settled in Orotina, all eyes now turn to the second event of the series. The competition will move to the province of Guanacaste on June 27th for a race in Las Juntas de Abangares. This venue is well-known among veteran riders for its notoriously flat yet deceptively demanding course, promising another thrilling chapter in the battle for the 2026 Serie CR MTB championship.
