San José, Costa Rica — A new, high-impact initiative is set to empower the next generation of female leaders in Costa Rica’s science and technology sectors. For the first time, Universidad Fidélitas will host “Patrones Hermosos” (Beautiful Patterns), a prestigious international STEM camp developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Tecnológico de Monterrey. This free program aims to close the gender gap in technical fields by providing an immersive experience for young women on the cusp of their university careers.
Scheduled to run from July 6 to 10, 2026, the camp will welcome senior high school students between the ages of 17 and 18 to the university’s campus in San Pedro. The five-day event is completely free of charge for all participants, with meals also provided, removing financial barriers and ensuring access for talented students from diverse backgrounds. This marks the ninth international edition of the successful program but its inaugural launch in Costa Rica.
