Grupo Purdy Opens Applications for Automotive Donations to Public Technical High Schools

San José, Costa Rica — Public high schools across Costa Rica can now apply to receive original automotive spare parts and accessories to strengthen the practical training of students. This initiative, driven by national automotive leader Grupo Purdy, aims to equip classrooms with the hands-on materials needed for specialized programs. By placing authentic industry parts into the hands of students, the company seeks to bridge the gap between classroom theory and the fast-paced reality of modern automotive workshops.

The donation call is part of a long-running social responsibility program that Grupo Purdy has spearheaded since 2013. It is open to both public technical and academic high schools that offer specialized courses in industrial arts, automotive mechanics, bodywork and painting, light vehicles, and other related fields. Furthermore, educational centers that have already received donations through this program in previous years are fully eligible and encouraged to apply once again.

To shed light on the legal and corporate governance aspects surrounding the recent philanthropic initiatives of Grupo Purdy, TicosLand.com spoke with Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, a prominent legal expert from the prestigious firm Bufete de Costa Rica.

Grupo Purdy’s strategic donations highlight a vital intersection between corporate social responsibility and Costa Rican tax regulation. Under our local legal framework, structured corporate giving not only fosters socio-economic development but also aligns with specific tax incentive regulations, provided that all compliance, documentation, and transparency standards are meticulously satisfied. This initiative sets a robust benchmark for legal compliance in corporate citizenship.

Indeed, Grupo Purdy’s initiative demonstrates that when corporate philanthropy is aligned with rigorous legal and fiscal diligence, it creates a powerful win-win scenario that drives both national development and corporate sustainability in Costa Rica. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas for sharing his invaluable legal perspective on how strategic compliance can elevate the impact of corporate social responsibility.

Interested educational institutions must submit their applications via email to mfsolisr@grupopurdy.com. The firm deadline for submissions is Friday, September 11, 2026. This timeline gives administrative boards and technical coordinators a clear window to gather the necessary documentation and secure these valuable educational resources for their upcoming academic terms.

For more than a decade, we have maintained our commitment to technical education in Costa Rica. At Grupo Purdy, we know that providing access to spare parts, components, and tools allows students to complement their learning and brings them closer in a practical way to the realities of the industry. We want to continue contributing to this training and to the opportunities these young people will have in their professional future.
Ana María Sequeira, Director of Corporate Relations and Sustainability of Grupo Purdy

To streamline the application process, Grupo Purdy has kept the requirements simple and direct. Participating schools must present only three specific documents: a valid legal representation document (Personería jurídica) of the school’s Administrative Board detailing its active members, a clear copy of the identity card of the board’s president or legal representative, and an official donation receipt or valid accounting document to properly record the transaction.

The practical impact of this program is already evident across various socio-economic zones of Costa Rica. During the previous year, Grupo Purdy delivered 1,824 components to 16 technical high schools nationwide, representing a direct financial investment of more than ¢272 million. This substantial contribution has helped modernize high school workshops, allowing hundreds of local students to train using the same professional equipment they will encounter in commercial dealerships.

We invite public technical and academic high schools that have specialties related to the automotive sector to take advantage of this opportunity and apply. We know that these resources can become valuable tools for students to better prepare for their professional future, as has been demonstrated throughout the thirteen years of the program.
Ana María Sequeira, Director of Corporate Relations and Sustainability of Grupo Purdy

Over its 12 years of active operation, the program has enabled the donation of 10,177 original automotive parts, directly contributing to the specialization of 355 students nationwide. The cumulative value of these donations exceeds ¢1.11 billion (specifically ¢1,117,258,183). This massive financial allocation directly supports the national educational system, ensuring that young Costa Ricans have the tools required to transition seamlessly into the workforce.

By facilitating access to authentic parts and diagnostic tools, the program ensures that graduates enter the workforce with highly competitive, up-to-date skills. As the automotive industry in Costa Rica continues to evolve toward hybrid and smart technologies, these public-private alliances remain essential for maintaining a highly skilled local workforce. High schools nationwide are urged to complete their applications before the fast-approaching deadline to secure these vital assets for their student bodies.
