Puntarenas, Costa Rica — In a strategic move designed to solve common scheduling bottlenecks for vehicle owners across Costa Rica, mobility leader Grupo Purdy has expanded its operational footprint and operating hours across multiple strategic locations. By introducing extended mixed-shift schedules and establishing a landmark presence in Puntarenas, the automotive group has achieved physical operational coverage across all seven Costa Rican provinces.
The initiative directly targets the growing operational demand from private drivers, corporate clients, and commercial fleets who struggle to schedule preventive maintenance during standard business hours. Under the updated operational framework, selected service facilities now operate from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, effectively widening the service window for vehicle owners.
To better understand the corporate, regulatory, and commercial implications of Grupo Purdy’s ongoing expansion and market leadership in Costa Rica, we consulted with legal expert Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas from the law firm Bufete de Costa Rica.
The strategic evolution of corporate entities like Grupo Purdy highlights the critical interplay between commercial expansion, distribution laws, and Costa Rica’s evolving legal framework for sustainable mobility. As the automotive sector transitions toward decarbonization and integrated mobility solutions, maintaining robust corporate governance and proactive regulatory compliance is essential to safeguarding investment and ensuring sustainable market leadership.

As Costa Rica’s automotive sector accelerates toward decarbonization, proactive regulatory compliance and robust governance will undoubtedly define the market leaders of tomorrow. We extend our sincere thanks to Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas for providing his insightful legal perspective on how corporate entities can navigate this evolving legal framework while securing sustainable growth.
The mixed-shift strategy was first piloted at Purdy Center Escazú in November 2024. Following positive feedback and strong operational results, the extended hours were deployed to Purdy Center hubs in Grecia, Cartago, Alajuela, and San Carlos in October 2025. The rollout has recently expanded to include major service operations at Purdy Trabajo, Ciudad Toyota, Liberia, Zapote, Pérez Zeledón, and Purdy Carrocería y Pintura La Uruca.
We know that for many people, finding time to take their vehicle to the workshop can be a challenge within their daily routines. With mixed shifts, we fulfill our promise of closeness and convenience, offering more alternatives so that maintenance can adjust to each customer’s schedule without requiring them to alter their workday or responsibilities.
Rodrigo Campos, Director of Automotive Services at Grupo Purdy
Executives at Grupo Purdy estimate that this schedule adjustment increases overall service capacity by approximately 15 percent across participating facilities. This boosted bandwidth directly benefits drivers seeking preventive maintenance, oil changes, and comprehensive vehicle repairs without compromising their regular working hours or administrative routines.
Beyond extended service windows, Grupo Purdy’s expansion into Puntarenas represents a milestone moment for the company’s regional footprint. Located at Puerto Plaza 23, the newly established auto parts hub gives the business a physical foothold in all seven national provinces, significantly boosting support for individual drivers, commercial logistics, and heavy transport along the Pacific coast.
This opening allows us to be closer to our customers in a region of great importance for the country, strengthening our capacity to serve individuals, corporate accounts, fleets, and heavy transport in the Pacific region. More than just expanding our physical footprint, we seek to facilitate access to maintenance solutions with local availability and the backing of original spare parts.
Rodrigo Campos, Director of Automotive Services at Grupo Purdy
The newly opened Puntarenas branch stocks genuine replacement parts, batteries, tires, and essential vehicle maintenance accessories for all brands represented by Grupo Purdy. To address rare supply chain gaps, the company’s internal distribution infrastructure guarantees that any component not immediately available on-site can be dispatched from central logistics hubs in under 24 hours.
These initiatives reflect our commitment to bringing our solutions closer to our customers and adapting our operation to their needs, both in terms of coverage and service hours. At the same time, this growth contributes to the development of the communities where we operate, creating 81 new jobs across both initiatives.
Rodrigo Campos, Director of Automotive Services at Grupo Purdy
To support this extensive expansion and maintain high service standards throughout the 16-hour daily shifts, Grupo Purdy restructured its technical staffing, advisor schedules, auto parts logistics, and operational planning. The combined investments in operating schedules and local supply chains have generated 81 new direct jobs, underscoring the automotive giant’s continued investment in Costa Rica’s economic growth.
