After mandatory tax deductions, the net amount available to the organization was ¢154,588,560, from which all operational expenses had to be covered before calculating the final donation.
A substantial portion of the event’s revenue, totaling ¢53,542,983, was allocated to payments for various public services and permits required to ensure the safety and legality of the race. This highlights the complex logistical and financial coordination required between private event organizers and government entities in the capital.
The single largest expenditure was a payment of ¢32,717,757 to the San José Municipal Police for security and traffic management. The police force justified the considerable fee by detailing the extensive deployment required for the event’s coverage. A force of 230 officers was mobilized specifically for the marathon, with 168 dedicated to managing road closures and 62 strategically positioned along the race route to ensure participant and spectator safety.
Beyond security, other significant public costs included a ¢639,941 fee to the Transit Engineering department for logistical support. A combined total of ¢5,334,192 was paid for a range of licenses, including temporary commercial patents, permits for the installation of stands and food trucks, and fees for displaying advertising banners and signs during both the race and pre-event activities.
