In the men’s 154-kilometer Open category, the competition was fierce down to the final meter. Pablo Mudarra, representing the Colono Bikestation Kölbi team, clinched the title with a remarkable time of 3 hours, 31 minutes, and 32 seconds. The victory was anything but easy, as Jewinson Varela of ManzaTé La Selva Scott pushed him to the limit, finishing just two seconds behind at 3:31:34. Andrés Alpízar from the Ciclo Café – Repuestos Mena – En su Punto team secured the final podium spot, crossing the line with a time of 3:31:43 in a thrillingly close finish.
The women’s Open race was equally dramatic, with Paola Chacón Fuentes of the Victor Vargas team earning a hard-fought victory. She completed the formidable 154-kilometer course in 3 hours, 58 minutes, and 5 seconds. The battle for the top spot was a nail-biter, as Ana Méndez of Cycling Lab finished a mere four seconds later at 3:58:09. Amanda Alvarado Quesada, riding for ManzaTé-La Selva-No Varix, rounded out the podium with an impressive time of 3:58:13, highlighting the depth of talent in the women’s field.
Beyond the elite Open categories, the event showcased fierce competition across numerous Master’s divisions on the 154-kilometer route. In the men’s races, Vladimir Fernández took top honors in Master A (3:31:39), followed by Edwin Alberto Godínez in Master B (3:34:57), and Henry Azofeifa of Team Costafrut in Master C (3:45:10). The more experienced categories saw Nelson Webb of Caciques Team win Master D (3:58:21) and José Herrera claim victory in Master E (4:08:03).
The women’s Master’s categories also saw outstanding performances. Alejandra Tattenbach, representing Guayabillos & DrCabello, won the Master A division with a stellar time of 3:58:27. Fiorella Herrera secured the Master B title (4:08:11), while Andrea Casalvolone of Trimax triumphed in Master C (4:08:48). Karina Hernández completed the roster of winners by taking the Master D category with a time of 4:52:21.
The 100-kilometer race provided its own share of excitement. Santiago Prendas demonstrated his strength by winning the men’s Open category with a swift time of 2 hours, 35 minutes, and 4 seconds. In the women’s Open division for the same distance, Ibi Salas Delgado proved to be the strongest rider of the day, crossing the finish line in 2 hours, 37 minutes, and 56 seconds to claim her victory.
