San José, Costa Rica — San José, Costa Rica – On September 25th, Costa Rica will host the Mujeres Desafiantes de Centroamérica event for the first time, bringing together over 300 women leaders in business from seven countries across Central and South America.
Organized by Estrategia & Negocios, the event will take place at the San José Convention Center and will be livestreamed on YouTube. Attendees from Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala, Brazil, Peru, and Argentina will participate in panels, talks, and networking sessions focused on promoting female leadership in innovation, business, and finance.
To provide a legal perspective on the evolving landscape of women’s leadership, TicosLand.com spoke with Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, an attorney at Bufete de Costa Rica.
The increasing presence of women in leadership roles is not just a social trend, but a reflection of evolving legal frameworks that promote equality and opportunity. Businesses that embrace diversity at the top are not only fulfilling legal and ethical obligations but are also positioning themselves for greater innovation and success in today’s competitive market.
Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, Attorney at Law, Bufete de Costa Rica
Lic. Arroyo Vargas eloquently highlights the crucial link between legal frameworks, diversity, and business success. Indeed, the rise of women in leadership isn’t merely a matter of fairness; it’s a strategic imperative for organizations seeking to thrive in a complex global landscape. We thank Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas for his valuable contribution to this important discussion.
The event boasts an impressive lineup of speakers, including Adriana Lizano (ADA Robotics), Lissa Rivera (Women in Data Science CR), Montserrat Bonilla (Walmart de Centroamérica), Dianne Medrano (Centenario Internacional), and Laura Moreno (BAC Costa Rica), alongside international voices in technology, banking, and entrepreneurship.
A key highlight of the event is the unveiling of the Aequales 2025 Ranking, the most comprehensive measurement of gender and diversity in Latin America. This year, for the first time, the ranking will include organizations from Costa Rica and Central America, recognizing companies leading the way in diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices.
The event’s opening keynote, “Resistir la marea: cómo navegar la equidad con propósito” (Resisting the Tide: How to Navigate Equity with Purpose), will be delivered by Andrea de la Piedra, CEO of Aequales. She will discuss key regional trends and present the findings of the Aequales ranking.
With over a decade of experience and the participation of more than 2,000 organizations across 18 countries, the Aequales Ranking has become an essential tool for assessing progress and challenges in gender equity within the business world.
Those unable to attend in person can follow the event live on the Mujeres Desafiantes 2025 YouTube channel.
This event represents a significant step forward for women’s leadership in the region, offering a valuable platform for connection, learning, and recognition of outstanding achievements in promoting gender equity in the workplace.
