Officials estimate it will generate 2,190 hours of clean cooking gas, process 6,750 liters of organic waste that would have otherwise ended up in landfills, and produce an impressive 19,710 liters of high-quality organic fertilizer. Critically, these efforts are expected to prevent the equivalent of six tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year, a direct contribution to Costa Rica’s climate action goals.
The initiative’s initial rollout includes five public schools and three comprehensive child care centers, ensuring that the educational benefits reach a wide range of young learners. This hands-on experience with renewable energy technology and sustainable practices is an invaluable component of modern STEM education, preparing the next generation to be leaders in a green economy.
Demonstrating its versatility, the project has also been implemented at the Municipal Center for Animal Care Education of Cartago.
