The ambitious educational initiative has already scaled rapidly across the country, currently benefiting 74,486 students across 1,095 educational centers. This wide-reaching program operates throughout all 27 Regional Education Directorates in Costa Rica, ensuring that rural and marginalized communities gain equal access to modern digital education tools that were once exclusively available in private institutions.

At the core of the project is the deployment of highly advanced, adaptive educational software. Students participate in personalized learning tracks using globally recognized platforms such as ABCmouse Aprende Inglés, My Math Academy, My Reading Academy, and My Reading Academy Español. These digital tools are specifically designed to reinforce foundational competencies in critical subject areas, including English proficiency, mathematics, reading comprehension, and writing.
From a policy and business perspective, the National Learning Accelerators Project is not a temporary or isolated program. It is formally integrated into Costa Rica’s Language Promotion Educational Policy and the MEP Institutional Strategic Plan. This formal alignment ensures the initiative’s long-term institutionalization, budget sustainability, and smooth future expansion across the national public school system.
Recognizing that technology alone cannot transform classrooms, the coalition has placed a heavy emphasis on professional capacity building for teachers. To date, more than 4,150 educators have participated in specialized webinars, and approximately 1,550 teachers have formally enrolled in intensive professional development courses to master the integration of these adaptive platforms into their daily pedagogical strategies.
The Academic Vice Minister of MEP emphasized the importance of pooling resources from the private, public, and non-profit sectors to create a more equitable education landscape. She noted that these collaborative efforts are essential to bridging the digital divide and offering premium academic resources to vulnerable student demographics.
The coordination of capacities and resources makes it possible to strengthen public education and generate better learning opportunities, especially for populations facing greater challenges.
