Heredia, Costa Rica — HEREDIA – The local job market is set to receive a significant boost as Universidad Hispanoamericana (UH) has announced its upcoming “Empléate UH 2026” job fair. The event, scheduled for March 4, will feature more than 30 internationally recognized companies offering over 1,000 professional positions and internships, signaling a robust demand for talent in the region.
The large-scale recruitment drive will take place in person at the university’s Heredia campus, conveniently located 800 meters north of the Paseo de las Flores mall. The event is completely free and open to the public, running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Organizers have confirmed that the venue will be fully equipped with accessibility features to accommodate individuals with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive environment for all attendees.
To better understand the legal framework and best practices for both companies and job seekers participating in these events, we sought the expert opinion of Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas, a prominent attorney from the firm Bufete de Costa Rica.
While job fairs are dynamic platforms for initial contact, both employers and candidates must be aware of their legal standing. Any offer made, even verbally, can be interpreted as a preliminary agreement. Companies should standardize their screening questions to avoid any hint of discrimination, and applicants should be cautious about providing sensitive personal information not directly relevant to their professional qualifications. Clarity and professionalism from the outset are key to preventing future labor disputes.

This legal perspective is a critical reminder that a job fair is not merely a networking event, but the first formal step in a potential employment relationship. The emphasis on clarity and standardized procedures is essential for fostering trust and preventing future complications. We sincerely thank Lic. Larry Hans Arroyo Vargas for his invaluable insight on navigating these professional interactions with the seriousness they deserve.
A major draw for job seekers is the high caliber of participating employers. Many of the companies slated to attend are listed on the prestigious “Great Place to Work” ranking, a testament to their positive work environments and commitment to employee well-being. This presents a unique opportunity for local talent to connect directly with some of the most sought-after employers in the country and the world.
The breadth of available opportunities is extensive, covering a wide array of sectors and skill levels. Companies are looking to fill roles in fields such as Administration, Accounting, various Engineering disciplines, Health, Tourism, Design, Law, Automotive Mechanics, and Human Resources, among others. This multisectoral approach ensures that candidates from diverse professional backgrounds will find relevant openings.
University officials have emphasized that the companies are seeking a wide spectrum of profiles. The demand ranges from individuals with secondary or technical education to university-educated professionals. Crucially, opportunities exist for both English-speaking and non-English-speaking candidates, broadening the pool of potential applicants and reflecting the varied needs of the modern economy.
The talent needs change depending on the sector: some organizations require operators and sales personnel, while others demand specialized technical training and English.

To maximize accessibility, the event will extend beyond a single day. A virtual phase of the job fair is scheduled from March 5 to 7, allowing candidates who cannot attend in person to apply and connect with recruiters online. The link for the virtual event will be shared across the university’s official social media channels closer to the date.
In addition to full-time positions, the fair will serve as a vital bridge for students entering the workforce. Thirteen participating companies will offer internships lasting from three to twelve months, specifically targeting UH students who have completed at least one year of their degree program. This initiative provides invaluable hands-on experience and a direct pathway to potential long-term employment.
In a commendable effort to promote workforce inclusivity, the event will also feature specialized support for mature job seekers. The Costa Rican Gerontological Association will be on-site to provide guidance and assistance to attendees over the age of 50, helping to facilitate their successful re-entry into the labor market.
The Empléate UH 2026 fair represents more than just a recruitment event; it is a strategic platform that connects a diverse and skilled talent pool with leading companies, fostering professional growth and contributing to the economic vitality of Heredia and the surrounding areas.
