Chorotega Job Fair Opens Doors to Over 1,000 Employment Opportunities in Guanacaste

Guanacaste, Costa Rica — The much-anticipated Chorotega Job Fair, also known as “Feria Brete Chorotega,” kicks off today, offering over 1,000 job opportunities for residents of Guanacaste. Spanning two days, September 5 and 6, the fair aims to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers in various industries, showcasing the economic potential of the Chorotega region.

The event is being held at the University of Costa Rica’s Liberia campus, where more than 20 companies will be recruiting for positions ranging from entry-level to professional roles.

The first day of the Chorotega Job Fair is dedicated to the tourism sector, reflecting the industry’s significance in Guanacaste. The second day will cater to job opportunities in construction, transportation, and agriculture. This dual-focus approach ensures a wide range of employment options for attendees, from roles such as waiters, chefs, and tour guides to more specialized positions like engineers, mechanics, and programmers.

Through the Brete Strategy, we have focused on promoting employment for the people. This fair is a concrete example, as we are bringing the job opportunities offered by regional companies closer to the people of Guanacaste

Andrés Romero, the Minister of Labor and Social Security

The Chorotega Job Fair also represents a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors. Key partners include the Banco Popular, the Guanacaste Tourism Chamber, the Tamarindo Tourism and Commerce Chamber, ASOPAPAGAYO, municipal governments, and seven employment offices across the province. This extensive network of support highlights the fair’s importance as a catalyst for economic activity in Guanacaste.

In the next two years, several hotels will open in Guanacaste, directly employing around 3,000 people and indirectly supporting another 12,000. The tourism sector is undoubtedly a major generator of quality jobs, which is why the entrepreneurs I represent have joined forces with the government under the Brete Strategy to create more favorable conditions to enhance Guanacaste’s tourism productivity and competitiveness

William Rodríguez, the Minister of Tourism

The Chorotega Job Fair provides more than just employment opportunities. Attendees can access various services, including training and scholarship programs aligned with market demands. These programs aim to boost employability by equipping job seekers with the necessary skills to meet the specific needs of employers in the Chorotega region. Additionally, job seekers will benefit from guidance and employment intermediation services, further increasing their chances of securing suitable employment.

As Guanacaste continues to evolve as a hub for tourism and other economic activities, the Chorotega Job Fair serves as a critical platform for fostering local talent and supporting sustainable development. With a robust lineup of companies participating, the fair is expected to attract thousands of job seekers over the two days, further strengthening the region’s labor market.

The event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days, and admission is free, making it accessible to all. For residents of Guanacaste, the Chorotega Job Fair offers a unique opportunity to explore diverse career options and engage directly with employers eager to invest in local talent.

As the fair unfolds, it is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future employment landscape of the Chorotega region.
